Former Google CEO doesn't buy the Metaverse yet... should we?

Since Facebook announced its rebrand to Meta and started betting all it has on the Metaverse, the world has been divided in two: on the one hand, brands (like Coca-Cola and Disney) that are investing a lot of money into this future, and professionals calling themselves "Metaverse experts." On the other hand, people like the former Google CEO who think it's too early to define anything about the possible virtual reality... or who simply don't understand what it is (and frankly: who does?). Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt appears to be among the people who roll their eyes when imagining the Metaverse, saying he’s unsure how it will actually affect regular people’s daily lives. Sure, the Metaverse has been preached as the future for the internet — and some brands like Coca-Cola, Gucci and Disney have been investing millions (or billions) to surf on the wave. Some marketers are even claiming to be “Metaverse specialists.” But how much do we really already know about this universe to the point where we have some sort of certainty about it?
